Berks III girls basketball teams: Fleetwood, Hamburg, Schuylkill Valley, Wyomissing

Schuylkill Valley Panthers

Coach: Jason Bagenstose, 11th season, 112-112.

Last season: 8-3 Berks III, 12-9 overall, Berks qualifier.

Schedule: Click here.

PIAA classification: 4A.

Last D3 playoff appearance/victory: 2024/2008.

Key losses: All-division F CC Reali, G Taryn Rittenhouse.

Top players: All-division Sr. G Elyssa Sellers, all-division honorable mention Jr. F Hannah West.

Key players: Jr. G Hannah Yobb, Sr. F Amelia Falsone, Jr. F Emma Houser, Jr. G Maliyah Butler.

Outlook: The Panthers have been the No. 2 team behind Wyomissing the past few seasons and if there's any time to overtake the Spartans, it's now. SV doesn't have much height but returns two talented, experienced players in Sellers and West while Wyo has a lot to replace.

Wyomissing Spartans

Coach: Aaron Anders, sixth season, 108-26.

Last season: 11-0 Berks III champ, 24-5 overall, Berks semifinalist, District 3 champion, PIAA second round.

Schedule: Click here.

PIAA classification: 4A.

Last D3 playoff appearance/victory: 2025/2025.

Key losses: All-State and All-Berks F Amaya Stewart (Albany), all-division G Alexis Hardy (Delaware track), F Audrey Hurleman (North Carolina lacrosse), G Lilli Marshall, all-division Sr. G Kacey Maggs (High Point lacrosse commit, out for season with injury), all-division honorable mention Jr. G Karly Hyde (out for season with injury).

Top players: Jr. G Addie Loeb, Jr. F Lily Paolini, Sr. G Ella Anders, Jr. F Kalia Schippers.

Key players: Sr. F Izzy Campbell, Fr. G Mayleen Armistead, Fr. G Claire Hurleman, Fr. G Megan Anders, Fr. G Lanie Campbell.

Outlook: The Spartans face a heavy graduation hit as their record-breaking senior class is off to college. The season-ending injuries to key players in Maggs and Hyde don't help matters. But the returning group has been part of one of the top teams in the state the past three years and is ready to make its own mark. A strong freshmen class helps, and head coach Aaron Anders' record speaks for itself.

Hamburg Hawks

Coach: Amanda McBreen, fifth season, 32-56.

Last season: 6-5 Berks III, 9-13 overall.

Schedule: Click here.

PIAA classification: 4A.

Last D3 playoff appearance/victory: 2014/2014.

Key losses: All-division G/F Amelia Gassert, all-division honorable mention F Shayna Morales, G Ashleigh Guers.

Top players: All-division honorable mention Jr. F Norah Davey, Jr. G Marcianna DellaMonica.

Key players: Fr. G Ashayleoni Camper, Jr. G Madelyn Wilkes, Jr. F Brielle Cox, Sr. F Kyla Rogers.

Outlook: The Hawks flipped their divisional record from 5-6 to a winning 6-5 last year and also improved their record by one win. They'll be hungry to make it back to the Berks playoffs for the first time since 2012 with an opportunity present. Davey is a solid returning piece and Camper flashed some potential over the summer.

Fleetwood Tigers

Coach: Courtney Mitchell, third season, 6-37.

Last season: 1-10 Berks III, 4-18 overall.

Schedule: Click here.

PIAA classification: 4A.

Last D3 playoff appearance/victory: 2021/2020.

Key losses: All-division honorable mention G Sophia Barrell, all-division honorable mention F Emily Miller.

Top players: All-division Sr. G Teagan Hilburt, So. F Sara Castimore, So. G Madison Noll.

Key players: Fr. G Kai-Lee Lamont, So. F Lainee Guldner, So. G Blair Rauenzahn.

Outlook: Return three starters and some talent in the underclassmen ranks, so the Tigers will be aiming to improve their record again after boosting their win total by two last season under Mitchell, who has brought consistency to the program.
