Wyomissing girls basketball turns its attention to defending its District 3 Class 4A hierarchy Friday night after an upset loss to Berks champ Reading High in the county semifinals.
The third-seeded Spartans (20-4) have a first-round bye and will then host No. 6 Susquehanna (15-7) Friday at 7:00 in the quarterfinals to begin the quest of a threepeat.

Wilson, Conrad Weiser, Berks Catholic, Wyomissing, and Oley Valley will be hosting District 3 playoff games when play opens next week.
The Bulldogs, Scouts, Saints, Spartans, and Lynx are among eight Berks teams to qualify for the tournament along with Reading, Berks runner-up Gov. Mifflin, and Berks II champion Twin Valley.
The tournament tips Monday and concludes with championships Feb. 26-Feb. 28. All championship games will be played at Giant Center. All other games will be played on the home court of the higher-seeded team. All seeds are based on power ratings.
Berks champion Reading High (17-8) is the No. 13 seed in the District 3 Class 6A bracket, traveling to No. 4 Mechanicsburg (22-1), which fell to Altoona 58-30 in the Mid-Penn Tournament semifinals for its first loss. The Red Knight face the Wildcats Monday at 7:00 p.m.
Berks runner-up Gov. Mifflin (16-9) is the No. 12 seed in 6A and travels to face No. 5 Central Dauphin (14-8), the defending champ. The Mustangs face the Rams Monday at 7:00. If both Mifflin and Reading win, they'll face off for the fourth time this season in the district quarterfinals.

Seventh-seeded Wilson (16-8) hosts No. 10 Cedar Crest (13-9) Monday at 7:00.
In the District 3 Class 5A classification, No. 9 seed and Berks II champion Twin Valley (14-9) travels to No. 8 Lower Dauphin (14-8) Monday at 7:00. Conrad Weiser (16-7), which secured the No. 7 seed based on power ranking, will host No. 10 Elco (12-10) also Monday at 7:00.
In 4A, No. 7 Berks Catholic (11-11) hosts No. 10 Bishop McDevitt (10-7) Tuesday at 7:00.
No. 3 Oley Valley (14-9) hosts No. 6 Columbia (12-10) in 3A Tuesday at 7:00.
Overall, Wilson (6), Central Catholic (4), Holy Name (4), Wyomissing (2), Exeter (1), Gov. Mifflin (1), Muhlenberg (1), and Oley Valley (1) are the only Berks teams that have won district championships.
