Mifflin girls basketball to the top of Berks County, leading the Mustangs to a county championship, scoring a program-record 1,803 career points, and guiding them to the PIAA Final Four. More than a decade later, Espinosa still follows the game and Mifflin athletics, including current senior Bella Super, who has a chance to break her scoring record.

Corielle Yarde's 2,283 career points at Schuylkill Valley remain second all-time in Berks County girls basketball history. But her legacy goes far beyond the record book. From leading the Panthers to their only Berks championship to winning four straight MAAC titles at Marist, Yarde built a career defined by excellence, teamwork and perseverance. Now a Hall of Famer and real estate agent, she reflects on the people and traditions that shaped her journey.

When Zena Edwards Lutz graduated from Hamburg in 1985, she was Berks County's all-time leading scorer with 2,231 career points. She accomplished the feat before the 3-point line and while playing with the larger boys basketball. More than 40 years later, she still ranks third in county history and remains the Hawks' all-time leading scorer by a wide margin.

Hannah Racis became Conrad Weiser's all-time leading scorer with 1,241 career points, despite soccer being her primary sport. In this edition of Berks Bests, the former Scouts standout reflects on record-setting basketball, a historic state tournament run, and the teammates and memories that meant the most.

Rashida Suber made history long before leading Reading High back to a Berks Girls League championship as head coach. The Red Knights' all-time leading scorer finished her high school career with 2,111 points before becoming Coppin State's all-time leading scorer, playing professionally overseas, and earning induction into both the Coppin State Athletics Hall of Fame and the MEAC Hall of Fame.

Addison Benner knew she wanted to become Brandywine Heights' all-time leading scorer long before she entered high school. After doing the math in seventh grade, she set out to make it happen. Despite overcoming a rare autoimmune condition that left her with limited vision in her left eye, Benner scored 1,282 career points, became the Bullets' all-time leading scorer, and finished 53rd on Berks County's all-time scoring list.

Abby Kapp left Boyertown as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,671 career points, but her greatest accomplishment came as a member of the only girls basketball team from a Berks County school to win a PIAA state championship. Paige Glovenski never expected basketball to become her sport. Encouraged by a friend to attend an Antietam open gym, she went on to score a program-record 1,373 points, earn All-Berks honors, and become one of the top scorers in Berks County history. Devon Merritt left Berks Catholic as the program's all-time leading scorer and one of the most accomplished players in Berks County history. A two-time All-State selection and James Madison graduate, Merritt reflects on the friendships, coaches, and work ethic that shaped her journey from Berks Catholic standout to collegiate athlete and her professional career.

Former Twin Valley standout Peyton McDaniel turned loyalty into legacy at James Madison, finishing her career with 2,325 points — ranking among the top scorers in NCAA women’s basketball history. Through injury, conference changes, and the transfer portal era, McDaniel stayed true to one program while building one of the greatest careers in JMU history.

Former Wyomissing standout Amaya Stewart’s rise continued at the Division I level as the freshman forward captured America East Rookie of the Year and Sixth Player of the Year honors at UAlbany. After a dominant high school career, Stewart quickly became a fan favorite with her energy, toughness, and production, helping position the Great Danes for another championship push.
