Berks Catholic will move from Berks I to Berks II in both boys and girls basketball beginning with the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons following BCIAA approval of new league divisional alignments.

The move slightly reshapes the Berks Girls Basketball League landscape while keeping the conference’s existing crossover scheduling format. Berks I and Berks III will now each feature four teams; Berks II and Berks IV will each have five.
The new girls basketball division alignments are as follows:
Berks I | Berks II | Berks III | Berks IV |
Gov. Mifflin | Berks Catholic | Fleetwood | Antietam |
Muhlenberg | Conrad Weiser | Hamburg | Brandywine Heights |
Reading High | Daniel Boone | Schuylkill Valley | Kutztown |
Wilson | Exeter | Wyomissing | Oley Valley |
Twin Valley | Tulpehocken |
Crossovers will continue between Berks I and Berks II, as well as between Berks III and Berks IV.
Here are the reported enrollment numbers for girls during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 cycle at each Berks school for context:
Reading — 2,209
Wilson — 806
Muhlenberg — 547
Gov. Mifflin — 525
Exeter — 520
Daniel Boone — 394
Twin Valley — 362
Conrad Weiser — 341
Schuylkill Valley — 328
Fleetwood — 295
Hamburg — 280
Wyomissing — 271
Berks Catholic — 223
Oley Valley — 214
Tulpehocken — 212
Brandywine Heights — 173
Kutztown — 160
Antietam — 148
The adjustment comes after Berks Catholic spent the last six seasons competing in Berks I. The Saints originally opened in Division IV during the school’s inaugural 2011-12 season before the BCIAA shifted to a three-division format in 2012-13, when Berks Catholic moved into Berks II. The Saints remained there until moving into Berks I ahead of the 2020-21 season.
That first season in Berks I proved successful as Berks Catholic captured the Berks championship, its third county title in a five-year span. The Saints have not returned to the title game since.
Berks Catholic still found success early in its Berks I run, winning division titles in both 2021-22 and 2022-23. The Saints went undefeated in league play during the 2022-23 season at 12-0 and earned the top overall seed in the BCIAA playoffs before falling in the semifinals.
Wilson reclaimed control of the division during the 2023-24 season as the Saints finished 9-3 in league play before again falling to the Bulldogs in the BCIAA semifinals.
The last two seasons have been more difficult for the Saints. Berks Catholic finished 7-5 in Berks I during the 2024-25 season, placing fourth behind Wilson, Gov. Mifflin, and Reading and missing the BCIAA playoffs. Last season, the Saints again finished behind Wilson, Mifflin, and Reading at 5-7, missing the county playoffs for a second consecutive year.
In the five seasons following Berks Catholic’s last county championship appearance, the only non-Berks I programs to break through the Berks title game are Wyomissing — led by Amaya Stewart — and Exeter last season.
The last BCIAA girls basketball division adjustment occurred when Muhlenberg and Exeter swapped divisions ahead of the 2022-23 and 2023-24 cycle.
Berks II has belonged to the Eagles since moving down from Berks I. Exeter, behind all-time leading scorer Grace Reedy, won back-to-back division titles in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Twin Valley won the division in 2024-25. Conrad Weiser also finished above the Eagles that season and qualified for the county (and state) playoffs. This past season, sophomore Addison Harper led Exeter back to the Berks II title and the county final for the program's first appearance in 49 years.
