Conrad Weiser's bounce-back season came to an end Saturday with a 58-25 loss to WPIAL power Peters Township and Miami commit Natalie Wetzel in the PIAA Class 5A girls basketball playoffs in McMurray.
The Scouts (17-11) were playing in the state tournament for the first time since 2016 and had not won more than eight games in a season until this year.
After a competitive first quarter, Wetzel took over in the second scoring 10 of her game-high 16 points as Peters Township (24-3) outscored Conrad Weiser 26-7.

Jordyn Welsh knocked down two 3-pointers, while Bri Morreale and Taylor McCullough each added one in the third quarter as Peters Township extended its lead with a 19-6 run.
Morreale finished with 11 points, and Welsh added 10 for Peters Township.
Alex Trevena and Lauren Grabosky each had a team-high six points for the Scouts.
Peters Township advances to face WPIAL third-place finisher Thomas Jefferson in the second round on Wednesday. Peters Township has already defeated Thomas Jefferson three times this season: 52-39 in December, 58-49 in early February, and 46-43 in late February.
