District 3 Girls Basketball Tournament Round-Up (Feb. 17, 2025)

The PIAA District 3 girls basketball tournament tipped off Monday with the 6A, 5A, and 1A classifications getting underway.

Five Berks Girls League teams were in action with Wilson (in 6A) and Conrad Weiser (in 5A) the only teams to pick up victories and continue their seasons, plus clinch a spot in states.

Gov. Mifflin (16-10), Reading High (17-9), and Twin Valley (14-10) all saw their seasons end.

Sophomore Kailani Hardy scored 18 points and sophomore Ryan Leaman tacked on 14 for No. 7 Wilson (17-8), which built a 10-point halftime lead on its way to a 48-39 victory over No. 10 Cedar Crest (13-10) in a District 3 Class 6A first rounder in West Lawn.

Conrad Weiser (17-7), the No. 7 seed in 5A, rebounded from a five-point deficit at the end of the first quarter to hold off No. 10 ELCO (12-11) for a 42-39 victory in Robesonia.

Senior Alex Trevena scored six (two 3s) of her team-high 11 points in the second quarter as the Scouts outscored the Raiders by eight to lead 18-15 at the break. Trevena made five free throws and sophomore Geniva Paul scored five of her eight points to hold off the Raiders in the fourth quarter.

Weiser travels to face No. 2 Middletown (21-3), which had a first-round bye, Thursday at 7:00 in the quarterfinals.
