Oley Valley graduated three of its four leading scorers from last season's 17-win team that qualified for both the BCIAA and District 3 playoffs. Izzy Buehler returned for her senior season and has the Lynx off to a 4-0 start in Berks IV and 7-2 start overall.
Buehler averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 4.0 steals last week to lead the Lynx to a 3-0 record and earn the BerksGirlsBasketball.com Player of the Week for Dec. 16 to 22.
"Izzy's hustle is beyond compare," Oley Valley head coach Kerry Snyder said. "She competes on every play and never takes a play off. She is the consummate team player willing to take on any role or sacrifice her own stats for the success of her teammates and team."
This week the 5-9 forward had:
18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and six steals in a 47-39 victory over Kutztown Monday.
16 points, six rebounds, three assists, and five steals in a 59-38 win over Tulpehocken Thursday.
Nine points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal in a 46-31 victory over Kennett Saturday.
Buehler, who is also an All-Berks field hockey player, has increased her scoring average to 10.6 points per game this season after averaging 6.9 last season.
