Berks I Girls Basketball: Top Players to Watch

Tamyia Collier

Senior, Reading High

Collier, a 5-9 all-division wing, and classmate Yamilex Rodriguez (coming up shortly) have been key contributors on the Red Knights since they were freshmen. Collier has gradually increased her scoring average from 1.5 as a freshman to 6.3 as a sophomore to 11.0 points last season, when converted her free throws at a 77.2-percent rate. The Red Knights have had their season ended by Wyomissing the past two seasons — last year by 10 in the BCIAA quarterfinals and two years ago by 18 in the BCIAA championship.  Both Collier and Rodriguez are good friends, train, and play AAU with Wyo's Amaya Stewart in the offseason, so the Reading duo will be looking for some friendly revenge if they match up again.

Sydney Corado

Senior, Berks Catholic

The 6-0 all-division forward has a unique skillset possessing the ability to play in the post and on the perimeter. Corado averaged 10.5 points and hit 33 3's last season, the seventh most made treys in the league. She's been a key contributor every season of her high school career and will team with classmate Madison Langdon for the duo's final hurrah this season. Corado is No. 7 on the Berks active scorers list at 560 points.

Laura Crocona

Junior, Wilson

The 5-7 guard was an all-division honorable mention selection last season after averaging 5.5 points and hitting 20 3's. Crocona is primed for an even bigger role this season and made some waves this offseason, making the standouts list at the Philly-based outlet City of Basketball Love Girls' College Exposure Camp. She averaged 6.4 points as a freshman in 24 games, so nothing is going to surprise the experienced junior.

Brooklyn George

Sophomore, Gov. Mifflin

George is the first of Mifflin's talented 2027 class mentioned here. The 5-8 guard scored 6.8 points per game last season and showed a bright future for the Mustangs alongside classmates Bella Super and Bridget Martin. She was an all-division honorable mention pick as a freshman.

Kailani Hardy

Sophomore, Wilson

Hardy's steady emergence last season was a positive development for the Bulldogs and will be even more key this season in replacing the production of Laila Jones, who is expected to be out for the season with a torn ACL. The 5-9 wing was an all-division honorable mention pick after averaging 7.0 points per game. Hardy averaged 5.2 PPG through the first 16 games and 9.7 during the final 10.

Violet Houck

Junior, Wilson

The multi-talented, 6-0 forward/center will be the main cog in the Bulldogs' offensive and defensive attacks. Houck, who was an all-division pick in basketball and Athlete of the Year in track and field last year, averaged 9.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season. She averaged 9.9 points in 12 games as a freshman battling an injury.

Madison Langdon

Senior, Berks Catholic

The 5-4 guard is the only returning All-Berks player in Division I of the Berks Girls League with Wilson’s Jones out. Langdon averaged 16.5 points per game last season, third-most in Berks. She also hit the third-most 3's with 47 and converted her free throws at a 74.5-percent clip. Langdon, a three-year starter, needs 131 points to reach 1,000 for her career.

Lianna Martir

Junior, Muhlenberg

The 5-3 junior might be Berks girls basketball's best-kept secret. She scored 10.6 points per game as a sophomore and hit 26 3's for the Muhls, who narrowly missed out on their first District 3 playoff appearance since 2017. Martir, an all-division honorable mention pick, had nine games scoring in double figures led by a career-high 27 points in early February against West York.

Yamilex Rodriguez

Senior, Reading High

The 5-4 all-division guard can heat up quickly. Rodriguez made some noise on the AAU circuit garnering standout acknowledgment on Philadelphia-based media outlet City of Basketball Love lists during two offseason events — the CoBL Girls' Exposure Camp and All-City Classic. Rodriguez averaged 10.5 points per game last season after averaging 9.6 as a sophomore and 7.9 as a freshman. She's fifth on the active scorers list in Berks with 661 points trailing Stewart, Addison Benner, Langdon, and Jones. If she boosts her scoring rate again, she'll reach 1K.

Bella Super

Sophomore, Gov. Mifflin

A 5-7 guard, this precocious underclassman burst onto the scene averaging 12 point per game, 11th-most in the county. She learned from one of the most prolific shooters in Berks history in Taylor Koenig, who hit 66 3's last season and led the team with 14.6 points per game. Koenig is now playing at Arcadia, so Super will be the top scoring option for the Mustangs. She was an all-division selection as a freshman.

Others to watch: Reading High senior Zaniaya Bradley, Muhlenberg senior Ryanna Hightower-Prentice,  Wilson sophomore Ryan Leaman, Berks Catholic sophomore Katy Linderman, Gov. Mifflin sophomore Bridget Martin, Reading High senior Elyssa Spring, Wilson junior Janai Tisdale, Gov. Mifflin senior Mia Vazquez, Berks Catholic junior Liv Welker.
