Berks II Girls Basketball: Top Players to Watch

Gisselle Feliciano

Senior, Conrad Weiser

The 5-4 guard returned from a torn ACL and played in all 22 games for the Scouts last season averaging 5.1 ppg. Feliciano was an all-division honorable mention choice last season for Weiser, which returns its entire starting lineup and has its sights set on knocking Exeter off of the Berks II pedestal.

Meredith Fylypowycz

Senior, Exeter

The 5-7 all-division slasher averaged 5.5 points per game last season for the Eagles, who won back-to-back division titles. The scoring output was third on the team behind Grace Reedy (20.9) and Aaliyah Ware (6.0), who both graduated, so an opportunity to boost that average is present.

Grace Glass

Junior, Daniel Boone

The 5-10 center averaged 3.0 points last season and is expected to step into a larger role with Boone's top scorer last season Liv Welker (10.4 ppg) transferring to Berks Catholic and second-leading scorer Marlee Fetrow (5.4 ppg) graduating. That leaves Glass, Jess Parrott (3.8 ppg), and Aayla Hofer (3.9) as Boone's top returning scorers for head coach Matt Bowe.

Lauren Grabosky

Senior, Conrad Weiser

The 6-0 center was an all-division honorable mention choice last year after scoring 4.7 points per game. The Scouts' returning core has the potential to win a division title if they can overtake Exeter and hold off Twin Valley. Last season, Conrad Weiser fell in its two league games to Twin Valley by 28 and 8 points and to Exeter by 14 and 7 points, so the Scouts have their work cut out for them. Weiser's last BCIAA playoff appearance was in 2016.

Ellison Kaplan

Junior, Twin Valley

Kaplan, a 5-6 guard, is an athletic multi-sporter and Syracuse commit for lacrosse. She was an all-division HM selection in basketball after her sophomore season, when she averaged 3.2 points per game. The Raiders have finished in second place in Berks II the past two seasons. They last won a division title in 2022, when Ellison's sister Anna (who now plays lacrosse at Loyola) averaged 6.9 ppg for the 16-11 Raiders.

Hailey Kilgore

Junior, Twin Valley

The 5-7 all-division guard enters her junior season as Berks II's top player with the departure of Reedy and Welker from the division. Kilgore scored 14.4 points per game last season, seventh most in Berks, and hit 47 3s, third most in Berks. She averaged 10.5 points as a freshman and is nearly halfway to 1,000 points for her career.

Maggie Kopanski

Senior, Exeter

The 5-7 all-division HM forward will team up with Fylypowycz to try and bring the Berks II title back to Reiffton for the third straight year. Scoring opportunities will be aplenty with the graduation of Reedy. Kopanski's 3.2 ppg are likely to rise. The experience of starting on a winning team — and District 3 qualifier last season — will also give Kopanski, Fylypowycz, and the rest of the returning Eagles a head start on the challengers.

Geniva Paul

Sophomore, Conrad Weiser

Paul, a 5-10 forward, showed flashes last season when she was an all-division pick and scored 4.5 points per game. She got more comfortable as the season went on. After averaging 1.0 ppg in her first eight varsity games, Paul finished the season averaging 6.2 in the final 14. That included double-digit scoring performances against BCIAA qualifiers Exeter and Reading High.

The TV duo of Schmittinger and Kilgore, plus Weiser's Paul and Exeter's Fylypowycz, are the four returning all-division selections in Berks II. Schmittinger, a 5-7 forward, averaged 4.6 points during her junior year and will form a core trio with Kilgore and Kaplan aiming to bring the division title back to Elverson in head coach Matt Hahn's first full season.

Alex Trevena

Senior, Conrad Weiser

The 5-7 guard is another returning starter for the Scouts. Trevena averaged a team-high 7.0 points per game last season. She also hit 28 3s, the ninth most in Berks. A multi-sport athlete, Trevena is a standout infielder on the softball team and is committed to play at Kent State.

Others to watch: Conrad Weiser sophomore Dylan Bossler, Exeter sophomore Mairead Dolan, Exeter junior Chayse Flood, Exeter freshman Addison Harper, Daniel Boone senior Aayla Hofer, Exeter junior Lillie Keperling, Daniel Boone junior Jess Parrott, Conrad Weiser senior Sydney Spang, Daniel Boone senior Mckenzie Tritz, Twin Valley sophomore Lauren Williams.
