The leaves are changing colors, the sun is setting earlier, the weather is brisk, and the 2026-27 high school girls basketball schedules are coming together.

The first official practices can be held Nov. 20. The first inter-school scrimmages can happen Nov. 28. The first regular season games can tip Dec. 4, when plenty of tip-off tournaments will be taking place throughout the state.

Before getting into some juicy 2026-27 non-league matchups that stood out while compiling the Berks girls basketball schedules, let’s rewind to how some of Berks County's top teams—and some of District 3's top programs—finished last season.

How did District 3 girls basketball shape up last season?

Wilson defeated Exeter in the Berks Girls League championship for its first county title since 2014. It was Exeter’s first county title appearance since 1977.

In the other leagues that make up District 3, Mechanicsburg captured the Mid-Penn Conference championship with a 39-37 win over Central Dauphin, Manheim Township claimed the Lancaster-Lebanon League title with a 35-31 win over Cedar Crest, and York Suburban won the South Central Athletic Conference championship with a 40-22 victory over Delone Catholic.

In the Tri-Valley League, Susquenita reached the championship game before falling to Saint Joseph’s Catholic, 63-38; Saint Joseph’s competes in District 6. Veritas Academy won the Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference title, defeating New Covenant Christian 55-49.

Five Berks teams qualified for the District 3 playoffs.

As a No. 4 seed, Wilson won the 6A title—also its first since 2014—and No. 11 Gov. Mifflin upset No. 6 Ephrata in the first round before finishing eighth.

Exeter landed the No. 12 seed in the 5A district bracket, falling to No. 5 Lampeter-Strasburg in the first round to end the Eagles’ season. The upstart Eagles are searching for their first district win since 2015. The last time Exeter qualified for states was 1978.

In 3A, Oley Valley secured the fourth seed and Kutztown the fifth, creating a first-round matchup between the Berks IV opponents. The Lynx beat the Cougars before falling to Columbia in the third-place game with a berth in the state playoffs on the line.

  • New Covenant Christian in 1A

  • York Catholic in 2A

  • Trinity in 3A

  • Susquehanna Township in 4A

  • York Suburban in 5A

  • Wilson in 6A

Now let’s check out some of those notable non-league matchups involving Berks teams against District 3 opponents this season:

Wilson at Dallastown — Dec. 23

The Bulldogs and Wildcats have a fun non-league friendly that has continued the past few seasons. In 2023-24, Dallastown won 36-30 giving Wilson its only regular season loss. The following season, Wilson won 52-46 in the regular season before the Wildcats enacted revenge with a 40-29 victory in the District 3 Class 6A quarterfinals. Last season, Dallastown won 49-38 in the regular season. Wilson got the last laugh in the District 3 Class 6A championship with a 42-37 win in overtime.

Reigning Berks Player of the Year Kailani Hardy returns for her senior season with the Bulldogs. The talented backcourt of Denyla Handy—an all-state selection as a freshman—and Natalie McLane return for their sophomore seasons for the Wildcats.

Gov. Mifflin at Central York — Jan. 7

This will be the fifth regular season in a row the Mustangs and Panthers have squared off. The teams also matched up in a district tournament playback game last season before each qualified for the PIAA tournament.

The Panthers have had the Mustangs’ number. In the regular season matchups, Central York won 61-34 in 2022-23, 47-42 in 2023-24, 52-49 in 2024-25, and 66-64 last season. In the district consolation round last year, the Panthers won 59-43.

Jaedyn Edwards returns for her senior season to lead the Panthers. The Mustangs return their top five scorers from a year ago behind all-state guard Bella Super.

Manheim Township at Exeter — Dec. 19

This matchup pits two county finalists against each other for the third regular season in a row. The Blue Streaks won 52-33 two years ago and 54-40 last season.

The Eagles are moving up from 5A to 6A in the 2026-27 season due to enrollment. Township, the defending Lancaster-Lebanon League champs, will be a good early measuring stick.

Rising All-Berks junior Addison Harper returns to lead the Eagles; rising all-league first-team junior Ciniya Robinson spearheads the Blue Streaks.

Central Dauphin at Reading High — Dec. 10

The Red Knights welcome the nine-time District 3 champ Rams to the historic Geigle Complex in the first full week of the 2026-27 season.

Reading is coming off a 13-win season, finishing ranked 18th in the district power rankings. The top 16 teams in 6A qualified for the postseason bracket. CD finished ranked No. 2 and fell to Dallastown by four in the district semis.

All-Berks junior guard Xiani Beatty will lead the Red Knights, who will be aiming to get back into the district tournament. Senior guard and D1 recruit Kayanah Taylor has the keys for the Rams.

Warwick at Schuylkill Valley — Jan. 16

The Panthers welcome the Warriors to Leesport in mid-January.

Schuylkill Valley is making the jump from 4A to 5A this season coming off their first division title in four years. The Panthers have qualified for the Berks County playoffs six years in a row and were one spot out in the power rankings for a district tournament appearance last year.

Warwick played Manheim Township tough in the L-L semifinals before falling to Manheim Central in the first round of the district 5A bracket.

The Warriors return their top three scorers, led by senior guard Mia Warfel. Senior combo guard Hannah West will head the Panthers’ attack. Warfel and West are both snipers from 3-point range and will be aiming to finish their high school careers with a bang.
