Wilson center Violet Houck didn't play in the first game against Gov. Mifflin in mid-December, one of three games the junior missed in the early part of the season due to injury.
That first loss to the Mustangs dropped the Bulldogs to 1-2 in Berks I and 2-4 overall.
Houck and the Bulldogs are back to full strength, winning seven straight league games and 11 of their last 13 following a 57-42 victory over the Mustangs Monday night at the Governor Mifflin Athletic Community Center (GMACC) in Shillington.
"We're building chemistry as the season goes on," Houck said. "Younger girls are stepping up and taking leadership roles, which we need. We're all just coming together really well. We're a good team and everyone likes each other, which helps us."

Houck dominated with an 18-point, 21-rebound double-double, not to mention five blocks on the defensive end.
"One obvious difference [from the first matchup against Gov. Mifflin] was Violet playing tonight," Wilson head coach Matt Raquet said. "Her game tonight was unbelievable. I told her at halftime her pursuit of the basketball in the first half was unmatched. Nobody was close if the ball was loose, whether it was a rebound or on the floor, she got to it."
The victory was a pivotal one in Berks I for the defending division champ Bulldogs (8-2, 13-6), who moved into a first-place tie with Reading High after the Red Knights fell 49-43 to Berks Catholic Monday night.
"Our mindset was to just want it more," Houck said. "We went out and proved it."
Wilson controls its own destiny as it defeated Reading High in the first matchup between the teams this season. They play again Thursday in West Lawn.
If the Bulldogs beat the Red Knights and then Muhlenberg in their league finale next Monday, they'll be back-to-back Berks I champions for the first time since the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
"We want to make it as far as we can," Houck said. "We just want to keep playing. It's a fun season, but it can be short sometimes. We're going to try and make it as long as possible."
Wilson went to the BCIAA championship last season before falling to Wyomissing. The Bulldogs were a District 3 Class 6A semifinalist and qualified for the PIAA tournament, their first state playoff berth since 2018.
On Monday night, the Bulldogs' gameplan offensively was to quickly get out in transition even if Mifflin made a basket, which took the Mustangs (7-3, 11-7) off guard from the start.

"We're a pretty athletic team, so we just want to push the ball as much as we can," Houck said. "We want to get out in front of teams and push in transition. That's the game we like to play."
When the Mustangs settled into their 3-2 zone, the Bulldogs used quick passes to break it. The end result was usually someone finding Houck in the paint for an easy bucket; Wilson finished with 13 team assists.
Defensively, Wilson was in man-to-man the whole time with Laura Crocona taking primary responsibility of guarding Berks' top scorer Bella Super. The Bulldogs made Super work for all of her 12 points with Houck lurking down low to protect the rim.
Houck went 3-for-3 from the field for six points, secured seven rebounds, and blocked four shots in the first quarter as the Bulldogs built a 19-9 lead.
"We did a good job executing the defensive game plan and it was leading to a lot of transition for us," Raquet said. "We had Laura Crocona guarding Bella Super most of the game and she did a great job. It helped relieve some pressure off everyone else."

The teams exchanged points throughout the second quarter with Mifflin drawing its closest after Brooklyn George's 3 and Mia Vazquez's 2 cut the lead to 28-23 with 3:00 remaining.
The Bulldogs scored the last four points of the quarter to take a nine-point lead into halftime. Houck already had a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks at that point.
Two quick baskets from Ryan Leaman and Crocona to start the second half forced Gov. Mifflin head coach Mike Clark to use a timeout with 6:56 left in the third quarter.
Leaman got a steal-and-score when play resumed and the lead ballooned to 38-23.
The Mustangs made multiple pushes to get back into the game and each time were answered by the Bulldogs.
Super finished a breakaway layup after jumping in the passing lane and then took a rebound coast-to-coast to cut the lead to 46-30 at the end of the third quarter, but Emma Williams and Houck finished inside to start the fourth and push the lead to 20.
Jayda Armstrong and Bridget Martin hit back-to-back 3s to cut the lead to 50-36 with 5:54 left. Kailani Hardy found Houck for an easy basket on Wilson's next possession and Mifflin's Super fouled out with 2:53 left as the Bulldogs closed it out.
