Player of the Week: Gov. Mifflin's High-Scoring Sophomore Bella Super

Gov. Mifflin sophomore Bella Super has a fitting last name.

The guard has been super in her second season in Shillington and she continues to elevate her play as the Mustangs make a push for the Berks I title.

Super set a new career-high twice last week, both in wins for Mifflin, to earn BerksGirlsBasketball.com's Player of the Week.

"Bella is really starting to mature as a player and a leader for her teammates," Gov. Mifflin head coach Mike Clark said.

Super scored 26 points in a 58-37 win over Exeter on Monday and then set a new career-high with 30 points in a 59-31 over Conrad Weiser Thursday.

The two league crossover victories moved Gov. Mifflin to 6-1 in Berks I and 10-4 overall as the Mustangs stay right behind Reading High (7-1 Berks I, 13-5 overall).

Super's offensive output last week made her the league's top scorer at 20.2 points per game. Overall, Gov. Mifflin has won three in a row and four out of five.

This is the first time Super has been selected Player of the Week by either Berks Girls Basketball or Mike Drago Sports, where Berks girls basketball coverage was previously provided.

Super is the second Mustang to earn Player of the Week honors with Taylor Koenig, who was selected last season and is now playing at Arcadia.

Super joins Reading High's Yamilex Rodriguez, Twin Valley's Hailey Kilgore, Oley Valley's Izzy Buehler, Exeter's Meredith Fylypowycz, Wyomissing's Amaya Stewart, and Wilson's Kailani Hardy as BGB Players of the Week this season.

Players considered for Player of the Week honors are nominated by their coach or by members of the BerksGirlsBasketball.com coverage team.
