Wilson's Kailani Hardy Captures Player of the Week as Bulldogs Catch Stride

Wilson sophomore Kailani Hardy showed plenty of signs of what was going to come last season as a freshman.

She averaged 5.2 points per game through the first 16 games before working her way into a pivotal role with the Bulldogs and averaging 9.7 points per game through the final 16 games.

This season, Hardy has fully taken advantage of a go-to scorer opportunity and is the Berks Girls League's No. 3 scorer at 16.0 points per game.

“Kailani has done an amazing job stepping into a new role this year as a primary scorer and defender for us," Wilson first-year head coach Matt Raquet said. "She continues to set a new standard for herself and for the team.”

Hardy was the top scorer in two league victories last week for the Bulldogs and became the sixth player to earn BerksGirlsBasketball.com's Player of the Week.

She had 15 points in a 47-29 victory over Muhlenberg Tuesday and 20 points in a 61-28 victory over Twin Valley Friday to put the Bulldogs right back into the Berks I mix.

Hardy's efficiency has been impressive, scoring those 35 points in 40 minutes of play while shooting 67-percent from the field. Defensively, she had six total steals in those two games last week.

Hardy has led the Bulldogs to four wins in a row and seven out of the last eight. The Bulldogs now sit at 4-2 in Berks I and 9-5 overall after a league-opening loss to Berks Catholic in early December dropped them to 1-3.

This is the first time Hardy has been selected Player of the Week by either Berks Girls Basketball or Mike Drago Sports, where Berks girls basketball coverage was previously provided.

Hardy is the third Bulldog to garner Player of the Week honors with Laila Jones, who garnered honors last season and in 2022-23, and Violet Houck, who garnered honors last season.
