Schuylkill Valley junior 5-9 wing Hannah West has started the 2025-26 season on a heater.

West scored 25 points in a season-opening win over Pine Grove Dec. 3, 18 points in a loss to Pequea Valley Dec. 5, and 14 points in a win over Tulpehocken Dec. 6, earning her the first BerksGirlsBasketball.com Player of the Week selection of the season.

Each week, beginning with play from Nov. 28-Dec. 7, BGB will select a Player of the Week with input from Berks Girls League coaches.

This season, the selected player will be featured on billboards in central Berks County and in the area of that player's school district, courtesy of Lamar Advertising. Keep an eye out for the billboards featuring West throughout the week.

West, who is in her second season with the Panthers after transferring from Gov. Mifflin, is averaging 19.0 points per game, the third-most in the league behind Mifflin's Bella Super and Kutztown's Riley Derstine.

West has worked on her game throughout the offseason in AAU and continues to improve.

She averaged 2.7 ppg as a freshman with 15 3s at Mifflin. In her first year in Leesport, she played in all 21 games and averaged 9.9 ppg with 33 3s and was an all-division honorable mention pick.

“Hannah is off to a great start this season, after a very active offseason,” Schuylkill Valley head coach Jason Bagenstose said. “She has improved her all-around game and we are excited to watch her grow into a leader on our team. She loves playing basketball.”

West's 57 total points in the first week trail only Super's 61.

The sharpshooting West drilled five 3s against Pine Grove, four against Pequea Valley, and two against Tulpehocken. Her 11 3s lead the Berks Girls League.

West also had 10 rebounds against Tulpehocken.

She converted her free throws at a 76.9-percent rate during the first week of play.
