Benner had a game-high 19 points, including two 3-pointers, and blocked six shots Monday in a win over Fleetwood. Ella Potteiger chipped in 12 points for the Bullets.

On Friday, she had a game-high 20 points and hit six 3-pointers in a win over Upper Perkiomen. Jenna Crist added 13.

The Bullets have now won three in a row.

“Her understanding of the game and ability to play both ends of the court are helping her to become the type of player that every team wants,“ Brandywine Heights head coach Rob Benner said.

Benner is fourth in Berks with a 14.0 scoring average, trailing only Gov. Mifflin's Bella Super (21.1), Twin Valley's Hailey Kilgore (18.0), and Exeter's Addison Harper (16.6).

Benner leads the league in 3-pointers made with 40.

Each week, BGB will select a Player of the Week with input and nominations from Berks Girls League coaches and our staff.

This season, the selected player will be featured on billboards in central Berks County and in the area of that player's school district, courtesy of Lamar Advertising. Keep an eye out for the billboards featuring Benner throughout the week.

Benner was an all-division selection last season as a freshman after averaging 11.4 ppg and hitting 64 3s.

This is the first Player of the Week selection for Benner and second overall for Brandywine Heights.

Sophia's sister Addison, the Bullets' all-time leading scorer, won the award last year.

Player of the Week was initially awarded by Mike Drago Sports, where Berks girls basketball coverage was previously provided from 2022-24.

Players considered for Player of the Week honors are nominated by their coach, an opposing Berks coach, and/or by members of the BerksGirlsBasketball.com coverage team.
