Wilson Senior Laura Crocona Selected BerksGirlsBasketball.com Player of the Week

Laura Crocona, a 5-8 senior wing, had a team-high 15 points in Wilson's BCIAA semifinal victory over Reading High last Wednesday and nine points in the BCIAA championship win over Exeter Friday to earn the BerksGirlsBasketball.com Player of the Week.
Crocona, a Kutztown University commit, has been a key contributor for the Bulldogs all four seasons of her high school career.
“Laura works as hard as anyone I’ve coached," Wilson head coach Matt Raquet said. "She’s so steady and consistent . Both her coaches and teammates know what they will get from her everyday. “
Crocona was an all-division choice as a junior and an honorable mention pick as a sophomore.
This season, she is the third-leading scorer (8.4 points per game) for the Bulldogs (24-2), who have won 16 straight games after their 65-31 victory over Penn Manor Monday night in the District 3 Class 6A first round.
While that game was played in a new week, it's worth mentioning Crocona led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
The senior has made 35 3-pointers this season, which is second-most on Wilson and eight-most in Berks.
She is converting her free throws at an 80-percent rate.
This is the third time a Wilson player has been selected as Player of the Week this season, following junior Kailani Hardy (Feb. 9) and senior Laila Jones (Jan. 26).
This is the first Player of the Week selection for Crocona and seventh overall for Wilson.
Hardy was also selected last season. Violet Houck and Jones were each selected two years ago during the 2023-24 season. Jones was selected three years ago in 2022-23.
This season, the Player of the Week will be featured on billboards in central Berks County and in the area of that player's school district, courtesy of Lamar Advertising. Keep an eye out for the billboards featuring Crocona throughout the week.
Player of the Week was initially awarded by Mike Drago Sports, where Berks girls basketball coverage was previously provided from 2022-24.
